Meet Carrie!

First things first! We would love to hear more about who is behind those inspiring pics that we are happy to find on our news feed almost everyday. Therefore, we started our interview by asking Carrie to introduce herself.

Hi there! I’m Carrie. I am 24 and currently a first year business PhD student in southern California.

I was originally born in Shanghai. I’ve also lived in the rural parts of China before moving to the United States when I was 10. Since then, I’ve moved from Santa Barbara (California) to New York city to London to Los Angeles and then down to the Orange County (California) area – I know, it’s a lot. I am essentially the product of this wonderful world, and it’s more of a habit now to always look for new sights and cultural experiences. I want to travel to every nook and cranny of the earth to make them a part of who I am.

How do you manage to harmonize between your work and travels?

As a student, I’m lucky that I have a lot of flexibility in my schedule. As long as I’m not teaching over the summer and work super hard during the school year, summer break is the prime time to go explore somewhere for a solid month. If I’m stressed and need a short vacation, I can sneak in some travel days during winter and spring break as well!

With whom are you usually traveling? Or are you a solo traveler?

I usually travel with any one of my friends in small groups of no more than 3 or 4, as it could be hard to please and incorporate everyone’s travel agenda. If everyone is busy, my mom is always happy to clear her schedule for some overdue mother daughter time.
