Antwerp Zoo is the oldest animal park in Belgium, and one of the oldest in the World established on 21 July 1843. Throughout the years this place served not only as a Zoo but had a lot of other cultural purposes. For example, symphonic concerts took place in the Antwerp Zoo. This might not be so surprising, but there is more. In 1920 during Olympics, the venue hosted boxing and wrestling events!
Nearly a thousand different species live in this Zoo! Every year they consume about 41 tons of fish, 52 tons of meat, 37 tons of apples, 36 tons of carrots, 128 tons of hay, 4,000 litres of milk, 23,000 eggs, and 10,000 loaves of bread. So, believe it – Antwerp Zoo is a must see in Belgium!
